Don't even consider this one unless you have the ability and equipment to lead
a minimum of (3) 5.3+ pitches. If you don't know what "leading 3 pitches"
means - then once again - it's not for you.
The cache is located at the south peak of Seneca rocks and it requires a minimum
of 300-400 feet of climbing. It's not a steep hike, it's straight up.
We started on the east face of the south peak climbing three pitches of skyline
express, scrambled to luncheon ledge on the west face and continued up three
more pitches to cockscomb chimney and finally to the summit. It took our team
of three climbers a little over 5 hours to climb 1500 feet to the top.
The cache is the summit log at the top of the south peak. It's a journal and
a few trinkets in an ammo box (hmm if it looks like a cache and smells like
a cache?) The coordinates
listed are for the parking lot where you hike in to the climbing area.
I didn't place the ammo box, so please make this a take nothing leave nothing
cache, the log is great take a few minutes and read some of the entries.
To log the cache email me the letters printed on the two stickers on the top
and sides of the ammo box.
The view from the top is absolutely amazing!
