Geocache Description:

This cache was placed during our annual multi-family camping trip, rightfully dubbed "Rainfest" many years ago. This trip is our first time back to the Holly River since 2008 when we first joined the group. We had plenty of rain our first day here, flooding a couple tents, but the next day was dry and perfect for a demanding hike! There aren't many caches in the park so we decided to put out a new cache with the assistance of four-year-old Aiden. The hiking expedition included nineteen humans and three dogs. Oak Ridge Trail begins near camping area #5 and is a long uphill climb. Take plenty of water and enjoy the hike! The view from the overlook is blocked by tree cover in the summer but reaching the overlook will be a celebratory event in, and of, itself. Rather than turn around at the cache, I recommend continuing to the old cabin and returning via Ridge Road Trail.
