Однажды Архимед пришёл к открытию, что выталкивающая сила равна весу жидкости в объёме тела.

Царь Гиерон, живший 250 лет до н.э. поручил Архимеду проверить честность мастера, изготовившего золотую корону.

Хотя корона весила столько, сколько было отпущено на неё золота, царь заподозрил, что она изготовлена из сплава золота с другими, более дешёвыми металлами. Архимеду было поручено узнать, не ломая короны, есть ли в ней примесь.

Достоверно неизвестно, каким методом пользовался Архимед, но существует такая легенда.

Сначала Архимед определил, что кусок чистого золота в 19,3 раза тяжелее такого же объёма воды. Получается, что плотность золота в 19,3 раза больше плотности воды. Архимеду надо было найти плотность вещества короны. Если эта плотность оказалась бы больше плотности воды не в 19,3 раза, а в меньшее число раз, значит, корона была изготовлена не из чистого золота.

Взвесить корону было легко, но как найти её объём, ведь корона была очень сложной формы. Много дней мучила Архимеда эта задача. И вот однажды, находясь в бане, он погрузился в наполненную водой ванну, и его внезапно осенила мысль, давшая решение задачи.

Ликующий и возбуждённый своим открытием, Архимед воскликнул: «Эврика! Эврика!», что значит: «Нашёл! Нашёл!»

Архимед взвесил корону сначала в воздухе, затем в воде. По разнице в весе он рассчитал выталкивающую силу, равную весу воды в объёме короны. Определив затем объём короны, он смог вычислить её плотность, а, зная плотность, ответить на вопрос царя: нет ли примесей дешёвых металлов в золотой короне? Плотность вещества короны оказалась меньше плотности чистого золота. Тем самым мастер был разоблачён в обмане.

Задача о золотой короне побудила Архимеда заняться вопросом о плавании тел. В результате появилось замечательное сочинение «О плавающих телах», которое дошло до нас.

В этом сочинении Архимедом сформулировано:
Тела, которые тяжелее жидкости, будучи опущены в неё, погружаются всё глубже, пока не достигают дна, и, пребывая в жидкости, теряют в своем весе столько, сколько весит жидкость, взятая в объёме тел.

Описание тайника:
Клад под мостом.
Начало маршрута к тайнику на лодочной станции N53° 54.471' E27° 34.137' .
Аренда четырехместного плавательного средства стоит 12 BYN за 1 час.
За плавательное средство нужно оставить в залог какие-нибудь личные документы (паспорт, водительское удостоверение или др.).

Содержимое тайника: артефакты, лог, карандаш.

Будьте осторожны! Поблизости просто огромное скопление других искателей, жаждущих опередить вас и захватить тайник первыми. Обязательно соблюдайте конспирацию. Ничто не должно выдавать ваших намерений. Смотрите по сторонам «в оба». Внимательно следите за всеми, кто смотрит на вас. Нельзя допустить, чтобы найденные сокровища попали в чужие руки! Как завещал автор, после открытия тайника ОЧЕНЬ ВАЖНО ВЕРНУТЬ ЕГО В ИСХОДНОЕ НЕВИДИМОЕ СОСТОЯНИЕ.

В случае разорения тайника бессовестными вандалами и грабителями, основанием для зачёта тайника найденным является его восстановление в соответствии с исходным описанием. В противном случае зачёт за взятие можно будет поставить только повторно посетив место и найдя восстановленный автором или другими искателями сокровищ. Проще: если обнаружили отсутствие тайника, но не хотите или не можете его восстанавливать - не ставьте его себе как найденный, а ставьте как "посещено" или укажите "тайник был разорен". Зачёт за восстановление.
