Geocache Description:

This cache is close to Santa Verna temple in Xaghra and also has the most fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and the Citadela in Victoria.

If you are approaching the cache from Triq il- Knisja take the low road for the cache and the high road takes you to the Santa Verna temple.

If you approach from Triq St Anton pass the temple and the cache is on the low road.

Santa Verna is a megalithic site and it thought to have been originally occupied by a village.  The temple is thought to have been built later and although there is little that remains of the temple now, it may be older than Ggantija ( also in Xaghra)  and more important.  The only remains of the temple are three upright megaliths and some horizontal blocks. A few artifacts were found here which can be seen in the Archeological Museum in Victoria.

When you have found the cache you might like to return via Triq il- Knisja turning left and just before Xaghra cemetery is a viewing area with seats for a well earned rest.

The Cache is a small plastic container with room for a few swappables. There is a “first to find” pin . Happy Hunting!
