POR - O Pico do Itambé é um dos pontos mais altos da Serra do Espinhaço e do interior mineiro, com 2.052 metros de altitude, um dos marcos referenciais do estado e ponto culminante da serra do Espinhaço. De origem indígena, a palavra “Itambé” significa pedra afiada. Conhecido na região como caixa d’água, pelas várias nascentes que abriga e por ser divisor de duas bacias hidrográficas: Jequitinhonha e Doce, o local está inserido no Parque Estadual do Itambé, criado em 21 de janeiro de 1998 com 6.520 hectares.
A região faz parte do circuito turístico da Estrada Real.
De cima, a vista domina mais de uma centena de quilômetros ao redor do pico. O Pico do Itambé foi o marco referencial para os naturalistas, exploradores e bandeirantes que passaram pela região, desde o século XVI.
Para a subida, são cerca de cinco horas de caminhada por trilhas íngremes, com possibilidade de retorno no mesmo dia ou de pernoite no cume. Os que passam a noite por lá, normalmente repousam em um abrigo, no alto do pico, e ganham de presente um lindo pôr-do-sol e nascer do sol. A subida pode ser feita pelo povoado de Capivari ou por Santo Antônio do Itambé. Do alto, seja qual for o caminho escolhido, a paisagem é deslumbrante e descortina-se uma vista privilegiada das cidades mais próximas. Nos arredores existem também várias cachoeiras e uma linda vegetação rupestre, composta de musgos, orquídeas, canelas de ema, pequenas plantas carnívoras e bromélias.
Ao chegar nas coordenadas seja discreto para não chamar atenção de outras pessoas. Leia as dicas, vejas as fotos e use sua imaginação para descobrir o esconderijo. Levar lápis/caneta para assinar o logbook. Se quiser, troque os brindes, mas lembre-se de sempre deixar outro brinde no lugar. Se você não encontrou a cache, registre um DNF (Não Encontrado) e só abra um pedido de manutenção de encontrar a cache destruída. Se você não assinar o logbook da cache, seu log será apagado. Tire uma foto do logbook e publique em seu perfil (cuidado para não fotografar algo que permita a localização do ponto). Recoloque a geocache extamente no mesmo lugar e na mesma forma que ela estava.

ENG - The Itambé Peak is one of the highest points of the Espinhaço mountain range and the interior of Minas Gerais, with 2,052 meters of altitude, one of the hotspots of the state and the highest point of the Espinhaço mountain range. Of indigenous origin, the word "Itambé" means sharp stone. Known in the region as a water tank, it has many springs and is the divisor of two hydrographic basins: Jequitinhonha and Rio Doce. The place is located into Itambé Park, created on January 21, 1998 with 6,520 hectares and administered by the State Forestry Institute (IEF). The region is part of the tourist circuit of the Royal Road.
From above, it is possible to see more than a hundred kilometers around the peak. The Itambé Peak was the landmark for the naturalists and explorers who passed through the region, since the 16th century. For the ascent, it is about five hours of hiking on steep trails, with the possibility of returning on the same day or overnight at the summit. Those who spend the night there usually rest in a shelter at the top of the peak and get a beautiful sunset and sunrise. The climb can be done by the community of Capivari or by Santo Antônio do Itambé. From the top, whatever the route chosen, the landscape is stunning and you can see the nearest cities. In the surroundings there are also several waterfalls and a beautiful rock vegetation called "campo rupestre", composed of mosses, orchids, small carnivorous plants and bromeliads.
When you arrive at the coordinates, be discreet to not attract attention of muggles. Read the hints, see the pictures and use your imagination to discover the hiding place. If you want, take one gift, but remember to always leave another gift. If you did not find the cache, register a DNF (Did Not Find) and just open a maintenance request to find the destroyed cache. If you do not sign the cache logbook, your log will be deleted. Take a picture of the logbook and publish it on your profile (be careful to not shoot something that allows the location of the point). Replace the geocache exactly in the same place and in the same way it was.
