Tomahawk was settled by many brave men and women. They worked hard to clear the land and develop it into a thriving community. Tomahawk’s country side was picturesque with large trees and muskegs covered with cranberries and singing creeks. Many of the early pioneers were trappers and hunters.
Tomahawk was named after numerous settlers wrote down and submitted their ideas to the Government Office in Edmonton, and “Tomahawk” was chosen. The name was submitted by Lewis Shaw and he had taken the name from Tomahawk, Wisconsin.
