To the north of the village of Ponteix, you will find Notre-Dame-des-Champs, a statue surrounded by the stations of the cross, looking over acres of golden wheat.

It is located on the former homestead of the Levasseur family. Jean Levasseur and his twin sister Jeanne Legault proposed the idea of ​​a statue to their brothers and sisters, with the goal of paying tribute to their parents, who were pioneers. The family agreed, and artist Ian Mackenzie began the project. The artist used the trunk of a Douglas fir tree, a giant tree from the West Coast, to carve his statue.

The statue is 15 feet tall to mark the fact that the twins' mother died giving birth to her fifteenth child.

Elle est située sur l’ancien homestead de la famille Levasseur. La famille y a consenti et l’artiste Ian Mackenzie a entamé le projet. Son canevas fut le tronc d’un sapin de Douglas, un arbre géant de la côte Ouest.

La statue mesure 15 pieds de haut afin de souligner que la mère des jumeaux est morte en accouchant de son quinzième enfant.
