The first settler to arrive in what would become the town of Laflèche was Ferdinand Marasse, a French-Canadian from the province of Quebec. He settled in the area in 1906 and a number of settlers followed him, many of whom were French-speaking.
The first Catholic mass was celebrated in 1910 by Abbé Arthur Magnan from Gravelbourg. Abbé Dubois was named parish priest of the village in 1914, a year after the town of Laflèche was established.
Many Francophone institutions began in Laflèche over the years, such as the Saskatchewan Credit Union movement. Today, Laflèche is a vibrant community where many French-speaking families still live.

Le premier colon qui arrive dans ce qui sera la municipalité de Laflèche est Ferdinand Marasse, un Canadien-Français de la province de Québec. Il s’installe dans la région en 1906 et par la suite, plusieurs colons le suivront dont une bonne partie sont francophones.
La première messe catholique sera chantée en 1910 par l’abbé Arthur Magnan de Gravelbourg. C’est l’abbé Dubois qui sera nommé curé du village en 1914, un an après la création de la municipalité de Laflèche.
Nombreuses institutions francophones verront le jour à Laflèche, tel le mouvement des caisses populaires de la Saskatchewan. Aujourd’hui, Laflèche est toujours une communauté vibrante où plusieurs familles francophones y sont encore établies.
