Geocache Description:

This is a Letterbox Hybrid Geocache. Start at the posted coordinates and follow the story below to lead you to the geocache. You may use the stamp inside the cache to stamp your own Letterbox notepad, but please leave the stamp in the geocache. You may also use your personal stamp (if you have one) to stamp the logbook. Otherwise, just sign your geonick and date as you do on other caches! Please observe dawn to dusk hours unless otherwise posted.

Welcome to the City of Dexter and the Dexter Geotrail version 2.0! This geocache is one of seven placed within the parks of the City. There are also 2 bonus caches. Look for geocaches in the area with DGT in the name. The Dexter Geotrail is designed to take a geocacher to each of the seven parks.

Dexter Geotrail Logo

Inside each Dexter Geotrail geocache will be a code. Write the code on an official Dexter Geotrail Tracking Log. Once completed, return the tracking log to the City of Dexter Parks and Recreation office or Hackney Hardware to receive a Dexter Geotrail commemorative tag. (Tags are available while supplies last.)

THE LETTERBOX STORY

As we entered Peace Park near the stone park sign, we started looking for a place to hide a new geocache. We headed northwest along the sidewalk, and noticed the Peace Pole - appropriately placed in Peace Park! Not seeing any place to hide a cache, we continued on our way. 2001 edit— The Peace Pole has been relocated. So just continue on the sidewalk.

We then encountered the circular flower garden. We walked around the garden, but didn't find any spot we wanted to place a geocache.

We continued along the original sidewalk and came to a bench. We have found a lot of geocaches on benches, this must be a great place! Then we remembered our last cache in this park was on this bench. So we continued on, coming upon a pile of rocks. We have found many caches in piles of rocks, but, again, we have already hidden a cache among the rocks.

So we continued on the sidewalk, turning northeast around the corner. We passed the manhole on the right and investigated the utility pole, both types of places we have found caches before. Neither seemed just right.

But just a few feet later - we found a spot that we think will work. Enjoy hunting for the cache here! It shouldn't be too difficult, but please leave the stamp and ink pad in the geocache and place the container back as inconspicuous as possible!
