This cache is located in the area of the NYPD Memorial. The cache is NOT located inside of the large memorial. However, the easiest way to access the cache might be to walk through it. Please respect the memorial as you pay your visit to this site.
Fidelis ad mortem (Faithful unto death) is the motto of the New York Police Department. This memorial honors NYPD officers killed in the line of duty, which includes the 23 NYPD officers who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, and those who died as a result of 9/11-related illnesses. The memorial was originally dedicated on October 20, 1997.
After finding the cache you can enjoy the views by the water, or you can even see a piece of the Berlin Wall that is only about 50 feet away, but you will need to walk back to South End Avenue and then around the fencing to get to it.
NOTE: When the old cache was active, there were many posters on the cache page that thought the piece of metal wedged between a couple of bricks and the nearby marble was the cache. That is NOT the cache and never was, so please do not log that as your find. If you are having trouble finding the cache, please refer to the hint.
