Az Egri csillagok Gárdonyi Géza 1899-től folytatásokban megjelenő, majd 1901-ben könyvben is kiadott regénye, az egyik legismertebb magyar történelmi regény, amelynek története a valóságos 1552. évi egri ostrom eseményeinek és előzményeinek történetét dolgozza fel érdekfeszítően cselekményes regény formájában. Cselekménye 1533-ban indul, és az 1552-es hatalmas túlerővel szemben diadalt aratott egri hősök győzelmével zárul. Az író maga e művét legjobb alkotásának tartotta. A regény 2005-ben, „A Nagy Könyv” elnevezésű országos felmérés eredményeként, melynek célja Magyarország legnépszerűbb regényének megválasztása volt, a Magyarország legkedveltebb regénye 2005 címet nyerte el.

The talisman ring's journey
Egri csillagok (Stars of Eger or Eclipse of the Crescent Moon) by Géza Gárdonyi was published as a series from 1899, and finally as a complete novel in 1901. Recounting the tale of the historical 1552 siege of Eger castle and a fictional account of the people involved in attacking and defending the Hungarian stronghold, the novel has entertained generations of Hungarians with its vivid scenes of the famous battle. The story starts in 1533 and reaches up to the heroic victory of the castle's defenders in 1552, despite their being overwhelmingly outnumbered by the Turkish invaders. Gárdonyi himself thought of this novel as his best work. In a 2005 national contest looking for the most popular books for Hungarians, Egri csillagok finished at the top spot.
A major plot element is the search for the Turkish soldier's, Jumurdzsák's obsidian ring, which lasts until the very last pages of the book. By playing this Wherigo cartridge, you can follow the ring's journey around the castle of Eger.
