Geocache Description:

This cache is a 2 quart white plastic container. It is hidden on top of the mountain in the George Washington National Forest. It is about 50 Ft. off of the fire road. This is the same area as the HOne Quarry and Bother Knob caches and not too far from the Staunton Dam Cache. There are many ways to get to this cache depending on how adventurous you are. YOu can even drive to it. If approached on the fire road from the south above Hone Quarry and the Briery Branch Dam a 4X4 is not need but a vehicle with decent ground clearance is. Use the Reddish knob 7.5 min quad. You can also hike or mountain bike to it. There is camping everywhere in the GWNF so all of the above 3 caches could be hunted on a weekend camping or backpacking or mountain biking trip. It is a nice area of the state. Good place to spend a weekend. To plan your hike, bike or what ever, you might want to get the 7.5 minute quads for the area. They are Brandywine WV, Redish Knob, Va-WV and Rawley Springs Va. quads. A nice camping spot is in a meadow located at 38 29.133 79 13.363. I am not sure how some people are getting to this. I assume they are trying to approach it from Rt. 33. NOT ADVISABLE. I hav rescued people who torn up 4x4 on two different occasions. Use the 257 Route through Briery Branch like you are going to Reddish knob.

This is about 1.5 miles from Bother knob and 3 miles from Beyond the Knob. Doozer and I camped there this weekend and hiked it in the pouring down rain to hide this cache.

The two local ham radio clubs have been camping out there for the past 30 years for a big annual contest. Hone Quarry cache is about 7 miles from this spot. There is a trail heading down to it. There are many trails that a curcuit backpacking trip could be made for all three caches. When you get to the location it will be very obvious. It is the only place there which would provide year round cover. Just in case though is an encrypted clue. But do yourself a favore and do not use it unless you have to. Have fun.
