Eclipse 2017 Illinois Epicenter Event Cache

Come join us at Cedar Lake for a pre-eclipse gathering from 10 am to 11am. This is a once-in-a-lifetime terrestrial event -- and the point of maximum duration of the total solar eclipse will be right here at the Eclipse Crossroads of America! Be sure to come prepared with eclipse glasses or other form of eye protection.

Come by and enjoy the company of fellow cachers from Central Illinois as we all prepare to experience this historic event. Come on over and meet up with fellow cachers, BYOBC (bring your own beach chair), and enjoy a lazy morning chin-wagging with other cachers in the area for the eclipse. After the event, some of us are planning on launching from here and watching the total eclipse from the comfort of a kayak or canoe in the middle of Cedar Lake. While you do NOT need a boat to attend this caching event, anyone wishing to bring a boat and join us on the water is very welcome to do so. DNR will be locking the gate as soon as the parking lot is full. IF YOU GET LOCKED OUT: I WILL BE HIDING A LOG SHEET NEAR THE GATE; I WILL ACCEPT "ATTENDED" SIGNATURES FROM THIS LOG SHEET. ALSO, DNR IS APPARENTLY ALLOWING PEOPLE TO LAUNCH KAYAKS AND CANOES INTO THE LAKE WHERE THEY CAN FIND AN ACCESS; YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LAUNCH FROM THE BOAT DOCKS.
