This area, described as Over Brent by Grandad was their old stomping ground where they enjoyed their freedom in their younger years.
From further up the moor there is a spectacular view over South Brent and Brent hill.
Nan and Grandad spent most of their lives together in South Brent, running the Butchers shop in the village.
As a Geocaching family, this seemed like the perfect place to remember them.
In the foreground you will see Scad Brook and the remains of some hut circles.
Scad Brook and is approximately 1.25 ha in area; its earth and stone bank is continuous except on the southern side, along the brook bank. The enclosure contains eleven hut circles ranging from 3.5 m. to 10 m. in diameter, with entrances facing south-east and many of the walls standing up to a metre high. The most complete hut has been excavated and re-instated with walls faced with orthostats and an entrance with jambs.
The walk from the car park isn't too taxing. It takes approx 20 mins on a clearly defined footpath, with moderate terrain and a small but easy to cross brook along the way. Plenty of sheep to cheer you on. This cache could be found on route to others nearby.
The cache is contained in the Geocachers favourite: Tupperware! A small, camo tape covered box with swaps inside.
This cache has been place in accordance with the guidelines set out by GAGB and the Dartmoor National Park Authority. For anyone else considering placing a cache on Dartmoor, be sure to read: http://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/visiting/vi-enjoyingdartmoor/geocaching
