Join NoVAGO and other area geocachers for a summer CITO at Scott's Run. A popular place for hiking and families, Scott's Run experiences a high volume of traffic especially during the summer. Let's help keep the trail beautiful and protect the flora and fauna by picking up while enjoying some hiking in the woods.
Bring water to keep yourself hydrated and sturdy shoes for the nature trails. If you have gloves or trash grabbers, bring them along as well.
The park will supply trash bags and may have gloves available.
Suggested Clean-up Areas
- Both parking lots (there is a trail that connects the two parking lots)
- Along the Potomac Heritage Trail

Update June 27, 2017
There will be a second cleanup location at Riverbend Park. NoVAGO representatives will be at both locations to assist in coordinating the cleanup efforts. Parking coordinates added for those interested in Riverbend Park.
Parking
Please note that both parking lots at Scott's Run are rather small. and we recommend carpooling if possible. Additional waypoints include parking coordinates for the two lots at Scott's Run and for parking at Riverbend Park.
*Safety
All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please note that the terrain at Scott's Run is rugged, with trails descending sheer bluffs, requiring hikers to carefully pick their way down rocky cliffs. Children should be accompanied by adults at all times, particularly near the water.
