Geocache Description:

Who: All geocachers!

What: A geocaching event celebrating Canada’s 150th Anniversary.

When: Saturday, July 1st from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Where: Tyson’s Corner Mall Food Court (Top Floor).

Why: To meet new people, talk about geocaching, and earn the Canada Day 2017 souvenir.

Come join us by celebrating Canada's 150 years as a country. Feel free to bring trackables, but please don't leave them on the tables because they could accidentally get lost or stolen. If you do not think you will be arriving until 1pm or after, please mention that in your "Will Attend" log because at times people leave events early. If that's the case, I'll be waiting for you.

2017 is a special year for Canadians as it is their 150th Anniversary of being a nation. On July 1, 1867, three provinces of New Scotia, New Brunswick, and Canada (now Ontario and Quebec) were formed as a dominion under the Constitution Act of 1867 (formerly known as the British North America Act). This resulted in establishing July 1st as a federal holiday to Canada, which at the time was called Dominion Day. In 1982, the holiday name was changed to Canada Day under the Canada Act. Today, Canada has over 45 National Parks, including Banff National Park, the third oldest national park in the world. There are currently over 230,000 caches all over Canada, with its oldest active cache, GCBBA, in Nova Scotia. Canada is known for its delicious doughnuts, having the most doughnut shops in the world, and maple syrup, with Quebec as the highest producer of maple syrup in the world. Signal the Frog will be traveling to Canada on July 1st to celebrate the Canadians’ big day, and geocachers all over the continent will be celebrating as well by attending an event and earn the Canada Day 2017 souvenir .
