Vimenet est une commune française située dans le département de l'Aveyron, en région Occitanie.
Vimenet est un ancien village fortifié du xiiie siècle. La communauté de Vimenet est attestée en 1258, elle dépendait de la baronnie de Sévérac. Une famille bourgeoise, nommée « de Vimenet », résidait dans la commune du xiie siècle au xive siècle. Le fort de Vimenet était en place en 1360. Il a une forme de quadrilatère irrégulier. De ce fort il reste l'emplacement des remparts, deux tours rondes d'angle et deux portails. Le fort a été occupé par les Anglais de 1360 (traité de Brétigny) à 1368. Une riche famille d'agriculteurs, les Costy, résidait dans leur manoir à Aguès (hameau de la commune).
Dans ce joli petit village, vous pourrez y découvrir, outre ses fortifications, l'Église Saint-Julien au clocher à peigne du Moyen Âge ou encore son cadran solaire.

Vimenet is a former fortified village of the 13th century. The community of Vimenet is attested in 1258, it depended on the barony of Severac. A middle-class family, called "de Vimenet," lived in the commune from the twelfth century to the fourteenth century. Fort Vimenet was in place in 1360. It has an irregular quadrilateral shape. From this fort there remains the site of the ramparts, two round towers and two portals. The fort was occupied by the English of 1360 (treaty of Bretigny) to 1368. A rich family of farmers, the Costy, resided in their manor in Aguès (hamlet of the commune).
In this pretty little village, you can discover, besides its fortifications, the Saint-Julien church with medieval comb tower or its sundial.
