Geocache Description:

This cache is located in another one of our area's old mining town cemeteries.  Iron City was a smelter town. Gold and silver laden ore were carted in from nearby mines, the ore was processed and the precious metals extracted. Like many mining towns, its citizens soon moved on to new places seeking their riches.  Iron City was only populated for 2 years. The location of the town is now a campsite and the cemetery is just down the road. Volunteers spent two summers working on the Iron City cemetery. When they were finished, there were new pickets, made by inmates at the Buena Vista prison, surrounding some of the graves, pathways between the gravesites, and a legend of the cemetery’s residents. Look for the gravestone for Sarah and Sadie Mullens, two smaill girls - "Born a year apart, died a day apart, buried a hand apart"

This is a fun cache to find just outside of the cemetery. Very close to St. Elmo Ghost town too.   Beware of Muggle Ghosts.

This road was the wagon road to St. Elmo and is now a 4-wheel drive down to Alpine. Road conditions vary depending on the season, we recommend walking the mile to the cemetery.
