Geocache Description:

During the Revolutionary War Wiccopee Pass was a stronghold that was well fortified, Hold it at all costs! ordered the Continental Army. They backed that order up with the Continental Army's main supply depot in
Fishkill. Many believe that had the pass been taken, the war could have ended very differently.

This cache is located in the Hubbard-Perkins Conservation Area. The adventure with this cache will be in getting there. The easiest approach (less than a mile) is from the trailhead on East Mountain Road South. This is a dirt road going up some pretty steep inclines so in bad weather it is not recommended. The other approach would be from the South through Fahnestock State Park, that will prove a longer, though scenic hike.

If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to come. I have yet to run into anyone on these trails and your way out there so make sure to mark your car and possibly stop off at Fahnestock State Park office for a trail map or even better have a NY/NJ trail conference map handy. Wiccopee Pass is the trail you'll be looking for, though only marked with a blue trail marker. At the beginning of the trail you may be tempted to bushwack but be patient and trust the trails. The cache is hidden no more than 10-15 feet off of the trail but is hidden well.

As of 5-23-05 this cache holds offical NYS Permit# F04-05
