What: Chinquapin Park CITO (Cache-in-Trash-Out) event.
Who: All cachers new and experienced.
When: Saturday, April 29th from 10am-12pm.
Where: Chinquapin Park, 3210 King St, Alexandria, VA, 22302
Why: To give back to the community by picking up trash and recyclables and making the park extra clean.
I want to thank the City of Alexandria Parks and Recreation Department for letting me host this CITO event. This is my first time hosting a CITO, and it’s a pleasure to lead this event. Please bring a pair of gloves and wear hiking shoes for this one. You will get dirty. Water, trash bags, and recycling bags will be provided as well as plastic gloves in case if you forget to bring gloves. Although water will be provided, it is recommended that you bring a water bottle with you.
Be sure to dress appropriately for the cleanup. We will meet up at the starting coordinates where you will sign the event logbook and waiver sheet (in case of hazards), pick up a trash bag, and start cleaning. Our primary focus in terms of location is the waterway area (the northern section) of the park since it has the most trash, although I will send a few people to other parts of the park as well. Trash will be piled up at the one-way sign by the traffic circle.
Also, if you plan on attending this event and have not attended any other CITO events from April-22-30th of this year, you will be able to earn the Spring CITO souvenir on your geocaching profile.
