We thought it would be fun to compare what elevation other geocachers get on their different gps units. In order to claim this cache as a find, please log the brand and model of gps that you are using and what elevation you get when standing in front of the Independence Pass sign and how many feet difference there is with the official elevation of 12,095 feet.
Also to prevent people from claiming this cache without actually being there, please post a photo of yourself with your GPS at the cache site.
We have a Magellan Meridian Gold and while it was sitting on the stone base of the sign it read 12,132.5 feet. This is a difference of 37.5 feet. Not too bad compared with older gps units that we own.
