Located near this cache is the City of Baytown's Eddie V. Gray Wetlands (no need to go inside to retrieve the cache) and Recreation Center which features a 900 square foot exhibit hall containing a variety of exciting educational live-animal and hands-on exhibits! Monday thru saturday visitors are welcome to head inside and take a self-guided tour and enjoy all of the great amenities. An official site on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, and free to the public, the Wetlands Center aims to increase awareness, appreciation and understanding of wetlands, the environment and local cultural history.
The building is named after Eddie V. Gray, a local businessman and Baytown resident who first introduced the wetlands concept. Through grant partnerships and the City of Baytown, the abandoned building, formally a bowling alley, was purchased, restored and turned into the wetlands center. The Baytown Community has continued to enjoy it's great benefits since 1998! Thank you Mr. Eddie V. Gray!
