Uma das coisas mais interessantes no Geocaching é conhecer lugares novos, que nem imaginávamos que existissem, estando a milhares de quilometros de casa ou mesmo tão perto de nossa casa que podemos ir a pé.
Esses lugares podem ser  interessantes pela sua beleza ou tranquilidade, mas podem ter características que os fazem especiais, como algum fato histórico, recente ou muito antigo.
Essa série de caches proporciona aos geocachers, além da satisfação da caçada, a oportunidade de conhecer locais, monumentos e objetos que tiveram alguma importancia em nossa história.

One of the most interesting things in Geocaching is to know new places, that we even not imagined that they existed, being thousands of miles from home or even near our house so we can go on foot.
These places can be interesting just for its beauty and tranquility, but may have characteristics that make them special, as an historical fact, recent or ancient.
This series of caches provides geocachers, beyond the satisfaction of the hunt, the opportunity to visit sites, monuments and objects that have some importance in our history.

Aldeia de Carapicuíba

Em 1580, o Padre Anchieta criou 12 vilas ao redor do Mosteiro de São Bento ( Hoje no centro da cidade de São Paulo ), para abrigar índios e padres, a fim de catequizá-los e mantê-los a salvo dos bandeirantes que os tornavam escravos.

Destas vilas, a única que permaneceu até os dias de hoje foi a de Carapicuíba, por ser de difícil acesso.

Mesmo assim, algum tempo depois,os índios que lá viviam sofreram nas mãos dos bandeirantes, que acabaram descobindo o local e o utilizaram como ponto de parada para suas investidas ao interior.

A Aldeia de Carapicuíba é muito rica em folclore à seculos. Lá surgiu a Dança de Santa Cruz, que une cantos católicos e danças indígenas. A dança é uma celebração à Nossa Senhora da Santa Cruz, hoje, padroeira de Carapicuíba.

Há alguns anos a Aldeia voltou a ser conhecida e muito frequentada pelos paulistanos, pois lá surgiu um restaurante chileno que acabou virando moda. Ficava lotado quase todos os dias. Servia comida típica chilena e apresentava música ao vivo.

O restaurante entrou em declínio, e fechou já faz algum tempo.

Hoje a Aldeia fica no meio de um parque público, e lá continuam a acontecer eventos religiosos como o de Corpus Cristi ( foto ).

In 1580, the Padre Anchieta created 12 villages around the monastery of St. Benedict (Today in downtown São Paulo), to house Indians and priests, to catechise them and keep them safe from the banderantes who made them slaves.

From these villages, the only one who remained until this day was Carapicuíba for being difficult to access.

Even so, some time later, the Indians who lived there have suffered at the hands of the bandeirantes who discovered the Aldeia and eventually used it as a stop to his advances to the countryside.

The Village of Carapicuíba is very rich in folklore for centuries.There came the Dance of Santa Cruz, joining Catholic chants and Indian dances. The dance is a celebration of Our Lady of Holy Cross today, patron saint of Carapicuiba.

For some years the Village again became known and much frequented by paulistanos, for there came a Chilean restaurant which turned into fashion. Was packed almost every day. Served typical Chilean food and had live music.

The restaurant has been in decline, and closed it´s doors.

Today the village is situated in the middle of a public park, and there religious events continue to happen like the of Corpus Christi day (photo).
