Pauligin huvilan historia alkaa 1800-luvun lopulta, jolloin 20-vuotias saksalainen Gustav Paulig perusti oman siirtomaatavaraliikkeen Suomeen. Paulig toi maahan mm. suolaa, kahvia, mausteita, jauhoja, portviiniä ja konjakkia, sen aikaista siirtomaatavaraa. Nuorukainen perusti liikkeensä 1876 ja muutti perheineen huvilaan vuonna 1887.
Huvila oli Pauligien omistuksessa aina vuoteen 1932 saakka, jonka jälkeen kaupunki lunasti palstan. Alue oli varattu virkistyskäyttöön ja 1964 huvila siirtyi Kivelän sairaalan käytöstä nuorison kerhohuoneistoksi. 1990-luvulla talon toiminta keskittyi luonto-ja ympäristöasioihin ja huvilasta alettiin käyttää nimeä Nuorten Luontotalo.
Kun Nuorten Luontotalo muutti Vuosaareen 2010, Pauligin huvilan nimi otettiin uudelleen käyttöön. Huvilalla on nykyisin kaikenlaista järjestötoimintaa ja se toimii mm. Luonto-Liiton Uudenmaan piirin, eli tuttavallisemmin Lupin päämajana. Se on suurin Luonto-Liiton kahdeksasta piirijärjestöstä ja järjestää luontoleirejä, retkiä ja kursseja sekä pitää lasten luontokerhoja ympäri pääkaupunkiseutua. Huvilalla vietetään Lupin nuorteniltoja, joissa ympäristönsuojeluhenkiset nuoret kokoontuvat säännöllisesti. Nuoret järjestävät myös itse kaikenlaisia luonto- ja ympäristöaiheisia tempauksia.

The history of Paulig villa begins at the end of 1800s, when a 20-year old Gustav Paulig moved from Germany to Finland and started his own company in Helsinki. Paulig imported salt, coffee, spices, flours, port wine, cognac, etc. The company was established in 1876 and the young man moved to Paulig villa with his family in 1887.
The villa was owned by the Paulig family until 1932 and after that by the city of Helsinki. The area was reserved for recreational use and in 1964 the villa transformed into a youth clubroom. It was in 1990 when the function of the house centralized into nature- and environmental matters and the name changed to Young People's Nature House.
When Young People's Nature House moved to Vuosaari the name was changed back to Paulig villa. Nowadays there are all sorts of activities in the house, among other things it's functioning as the headquarters of Finnish Nature League Uusimaa district, or more familiarly, LUP. It's the largest district organization of Finnish Nature League and it organizes nature camps, trips and courses, as well as children's nature clubs around the metropolitan area. In the Youth evenings in the villa the environmental-minded young people gather together regularly. They also organize nature and environment-related events.
