O Parque São Lourenço é um dos principais parques da cidade de Curitiba e está localizado no bairro homônimo.
Com 204 mil m² de área, o parque foi inaugurado em 1972. Sua criação ocorreu após uma enchente do rio Belém, em1970, que provocou o rompimento da represa de São Lourenço. O Parque foi criado para conter as águas do rio e recuperar a área próxima ao lago formado com a contenção.
No local, funcionaram uma fábrica de adubos e uma de cola. Nas instalações da antiga fábrica, funciona hoje o Centro de Criatividade de Curitiba, que oferece cursos e apresenta exposições. O Centro inclui ainda o Teatro Cleon Jacques, a Casa da Leitura Augusto Stresser e a Casa Erbo Stenzel.
Parque São Lourenço is one of the main parks in the city of Curitiba and is located in the neighborhood of the same name.
With a surface of 204 thousand square meters, the park was inaugurated in 1972. Its creation occurred after a flood of the river Belém, in 1970, which caused the São Lourenço dam to break. The Park was created to contain the waters of the river and recover the area near the lake formed with containment.
At the site, a fertilizer factory and a glue factory worked. In the facilities of the old factory, today the Creativity Center of Curitiba operates, which offers courses and exhibitions. The Center also includes the Cleon Jacques Theater, the Augusto Stresser Reading House and the Casa Erbo Stenzel.
