Located on the northern shores of Wabamun Lake, Ascot Beach is a small day use area where families can picnic or travellers can stop for a break. Wabamun Lake is said to have gotten its name when an old Chief and his daughter were gazing across the shimmering waters of the expansive lake that was almost in the middle of what became Alberta. The daughter looked down and when she saw her reflection in the clear water, she said “Wa-ba-mun”. This means “looking glass” or “mirror” in the Cree language.
This geocache was part of the Parkland County GeoTour – Series 1 which has now ended.
