Although the history of the origination of Memorial Day is uncertain, with many towns and states claiming theirs was the first observance, the long rows of marble and and granite in this cemetery are certain to instill reverence and calm. Also, near the cache location, take some time to examine the large bronze sculpture of three mourning women and the old stonework of the churches.
