Geocache Description:

The first geocache ever in Tokelau!

Welcome to Tokelau's first geocache. Tokelau is a non self-governing territory of NZ with much more in common with Samoa than NZ. There are three atolls: Atafu, Nukunonu, and Fakaofo, each with their own council.

Tokelau is most certainly not an easy place to visit, as it requires permits, a lot of waiting around, and a 24-hour boat rode to reach Fakaofo (the easternmost atoll) from Apia. Add another 12 to 24 hours to reach Atafu.

Getting to Tokelau is the hard part, the cache is an easy one even if you're on Atafu for just another hour or so. An old Kool-Aid cannister with a logbook and room for trackables and swaps (BYO pen). My friend Ross is caretaking the cache and it's on his property: a rather new, cream-coloured house. Say "Talofa" to Ross and his wife as they're very friendly people. Although the cache is on private property, be watchful of muggles as children could be about at anytime and be sure to replace properly and let Ross or Katie know you've found it. There should be no difficulty but if you're unsure, ask Ross to show you the location.

Enjoy Tokelau!
