Geocache Description:

A Village Sign cache.

This cache forms part of my Village Signs series around Chelmsford. Other caches in the series are:
VS#861 Great Baddow
VS#862 Sandon
VS#863 Springfield
VS#864 Broomfield
VS#865 Boreham
VS#867 Little Baddow
VS#868 Writtle
Collect information in these caches to locate the final cache in the series: VS#869 Chelmsford

The cache is not at the sign but can be found a short walk away.

In order to find the cache, apply the following offsets to the listing coordinates:

Northings: Nearby are two speed limit signs, one for each direction. Add these speed limits together and add them to the northings.

Eastings: How many layers of brick are used in the plinth? Take this number from the eastings.

The log contains a number which will help you find VS#869 Chelmsford. Don't forget to take a note of it!

About Village Sign Caches

This cache belongs to the Village Sign Series, a series of caches based on ornate signs that depict the heritage, history and culture of the villages that put them up (generally on the village green!).

The signs can be made of different materials from fibreglass to wood, from forged steel to stone. They can depict anything from local industry to historical events. The tradition probably started in Norfolk or Suffolk and has now spread across most of the country so we thought we would base a series on them!

More information, bookmarks and statistics can be found at the Village Signs Website

If anybody would like to expand the Village Sign Series, please do.
I would ask that you request a number for your cache first at www.villagesignseries.co.uk
so we can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
