Douglas DC-3
No munícipio de Garibaldi, junto à BR-470 existe um posto de combustível conhecido por Posto do Avião, Sim! É real, existe um avião estacionado no pátio do posto.
Um DC3 com muita história para contar! A aeronave pertencia à empresa Varig e fazia voos comerciais, até que em meados de 1962 o Sr. Ruben Berta enviou uma ordem expressa a Varig solicitando que adaptassem uma aeronave Douglas DC-3 em configuração VIP para permanecer à disposição do então Senador goiano Juscelino Kubitschek (JK), durante a campanha pelo "SIM" no plebiscito pelo parlamentarismo/presidencialismo em 03 de janeiro de 1963.
A vida operacional do C-47B PP-VBT terminou com pouco mais de 26 anos, quando em meados de 1970 a Varig vendeu a aeronave sem motores e trens de pouso para a empresa de móveis Barzenski que logo o transformou no "BarZenski", na cidade de Garibaldi/RS. A empresa alugou quatro carretas para o transporte e desmontagem do avião.
Desde 1978 a aeronave sofreu diversas alterações na pintura, passando de bar, display de posto de combustíveis, de aviário e propagada de danceteria e hoje leva a pintura das cores da bandeira do posto de combustível onde está estacionado.
Essa maravilha dos ares merece a sua visita!!

Douglas DC-3
In the city of Garibaldi, along the BR-470 there is a gas station known as Airplane Gas Station. Yes! There is a real plane parked in the station's courtyard.
A Douglas DC-3 with so many stories to tell! The aircraft belonged to Varig company and made commercial flights until around 1962 Mr. Ruben Berta sent an express order to Varig asking to adapt one Douglas DC-3 aircraft in VIP configuration to remain available to the then Senator Juscelino Kubitschek (JK), during the campaign for a "YES" in the referendum for the parliamentary/presidentialsm in January 3rd, 1963.
The operating life of the C-47B PP-VBT ended with little more than 26 years, when in the mid-1970s Varig sold the aircraft without engines and landing gear for Barzenski furniture company that soon became the "BarZenski" in the city Garibaldi/RS. The company rented four truck trailers for transport and disassembly of the plane.
Since 1978 the aircraft has undergone several changes in painting, from bar, to display of the gas station, poultry food company, night club advertisement and now bears the painting of gas station flag colors where it is parked.
This marvel of air totally worths a visit!
