Geocache Description:

THE MARYLAND GEOCACHING SOCIETY
cordially invites you to attend our eleventh annual

at
Patapsco Valley State Park
Hollofield Area

on
Sunday, November 20th
1.30 to 4.30pm

Come join the Maryland Geocaching Society at the Hollofield Area of Patapsco Valley State Park for a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) and Picnic Event on Sunday, November 20th at 1.30pm. The listed coordinates will lead you to the pavilion (Shelter 300) where we will meet for our potluck picnic after the clean-up. This is an excellent opportunity to give back to Mother Earth by picking up trash and helping with trail maintenance at this great Maryland park.

The Hollofield Area offers one of the most stunning views overlooking the Patapsco River Valley. From this vantage point can be seen the valley’s full beauty with every change of season, from the brilliant greens of spring to the rich colors of fall. The Hollofield Area boasts 73 family campsites, picnic shelters, and access to numerous trails. Trails such as the Ole Ranger Trail and Peaceful Pond Trail provide a respite in a beautiful setting just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Baltimore City. (PVSP Trail Map)

The schedule

1.30pm: CITO and trail maintenance
3.30pm: Potluck picnic
4.48pm: Sundown

Parking

Plenty of parking is available right next to the pavilion. The Honor System in effect from November through March: $2 per Maryland vehicle, $4 per out-of-state vehicle.

What to bring

Trash bags will be provided by the park. You may wish to consider bringing handy items such as leather gloves, old sturdy sneakers or knee boots, and handi-grabbers.

Picnic

After the work is done, we will gather at the pavilion for a potluck picnic and scintillating conversation. Please post your picnic items to the CITO Food List thread on the MGS forums. While the trails are not wheelchair-accessible, the pavilion is, so even if you are unable to access the trails, please feel free to join us for the picnic!
