Cette chapelle à 1695 m est le fruit du vœu de 2 Névachais qui, se voyant attaqués par des bandits, prièrent Notre-Dame de la Merci de les secourir. Ils furent sauvés en se cachant sous une roche trouvée à l'endroit où ils bâtirent la chapelle promise.
Dans ce petit édifice où le sol est couvert de tapis, on contemple un autel en pierre peint, une foule d'ex-voto, et, derrière l'autel, un tableau en noir et blanc. C'est une photo du tableau peint en 1803 par Hippolyte Laurençon, un habitant de Plampinet, qui rappelle l'origine de la chapelle. La peinture originale ayant été déménagée dans l'église de Névache, Ville-Haute.
Cette chapelle reste ouverte, car elle sert de refuge. D'ailleurs, Notre-Dame de Bon Rencontre est la protectrice des voyageurs.
Avec la neige la route est fermée, mais le cache est accessible à pied ou en raquettes avec une demi-heure de marche du waypoint P de stationnement.
