Bridge over river Fango (Ponte Vecchiu)
The Fango (Fangu in Corsican) is a small French coastal river of the island of Corsica. It flows in the Haute-Corse department. The length of the river is 22.6 km.
This coastal river originates on the western slope of Capo Tafonato, about 2000 meters above sea level in the town of Albertacce, practically on the border of the town of Manso. It also calls for Geoportal in its upper part, the stream of Capu di Vetta. The Fango flows through Manso, Barghiana Chiorna and Tuarelli. It reaches the sea in the Gulf of Galéria, north of the small town of the same name, in the Mediterranean Sea. Its mouth is part of the protected natural reserve Site Naturel de la Vallée du Fango.
A few kilometers downstream of Tuarelli it flows under the mediaeval bridge that dates back to the time of Genovo. Here there are very nice natural pools caused by erosion, filled with fresh water were you can cool down in summer. I’ts a famous place for cliff (and bridge) jumpers too.
The cache
Though it can be really quiet here, there are also moments there are a lot of muggles around. So use stealth when needed…
Happy caching!
