Ce monument fut un haut lieu de pèlerinage les 24 juin de chaque année. On ne sait pas si le pèlerinage de Bretx est ancien. Cependant comme de nombreux lieux de pèlerinage, il est pourvu d’une source. La fontaine est placée sous la protection de Saint Jean-Baptiste. Personnage biblique qui vécut au 1° siècle, ilbaptisa Jésus dans le Jourdain. Il est fêté le 24 juin.
Cette fontaine n’est pas visible de la rue, elle est située encontrebas du cimetière. On y accède par un petit chemin.
Edifice très original de section carrée construit en belles briques foraines avec des ouvertures en ogives et des pilastres aux angles. A l’origine une statue de Saint Jean-Baptiste trônait à l’intérieur de la fontaine.
La fontaine est coiffée d’une galerie avec balustres, elle fut construite sur un puits de 5 mètres de profond, alimenté par une source naturelle.
Une plaque indique qu’elle fut construite en 1898 par un certain Vaysse grâce à un don de Adam Cazeneuve

This monument was a high place of pilgrimage on June 24th of each year. It is not known if the pilgrimage of Bretx is old. However like many places of pilgrimage, it is equipped with a source.
The fountain is placed under the protection of St. John the Baptist. Biblical character who lived with the 1° century, ilbaptisa Jesus in the Jordan. He is celebrated on June 24th.
This fountain is not visible street, it is located encontrebas cemetery. One reaches it by a small way.
Very original building of square section builds in beautiful open bricks with openings in warheads and pilasters with the angles. In the beginning a statue of St. John the Baptist sat enthroned inside the fountain. The fountain is capped with a gallery with balusters, it was built on a well of 5 meters deep, supplied with a natural source. A plate indicates that it was built in 1898 by certain Vaysse thanks to a gift of Adam Cazeneuve
