Barry Wrafter from Ennis was chosen as the sculptor of the new statue representing hurling in Kilkenny. Carved from a 10 tonne piece of Paulstown limestone, the sculpture was unveiled in May 2016 by team manager Brian Cody.

Situated in the Medieval City by the banks of the Nore on the Canal Walk, the statue depicts hurlers in the fight for possession - two of those from Kilkenny in the famed Black and Amber.
