GCAK! is working hard to promote Geocaching in Alaska! Please join us today!
Join us on International Geocaching Day for a potluck picnic lunch featuring BBQ burgers and hotdogs provided by GeocacheAlaska! and cooked up by grill-master SSO JOAT on Saturday, August 20th. Please bring a picnic-ready side dish or dessert to share with the crowd, as well as your own favorite beverages (no alcoholic beverages allowed).
Please RSVP with a "Will Attend" log stating how many adults and how many children will be in your party as soon as you can. Also state what side dish you will be bringing. Bring Your Own Beverages!
Bring your HQ Duck Dash Trackables that are part of the TB Race so they can cross the finish line at an August 20th Event. You can get details on the HQ Duck Dash, which is already in progress, at the Geocaching Blog.
Immediately after lunch, we are going to run a Lightning Round Edition of JOAT's new Daycache Challenge. This will be very similar to the new game we tried out last year, but without most of the pre-game activities. The number of and distance to the Daycaches will be such that we can fit the competition into a shorter time period. Bring your GPS and appropriate outdoor clothing to engage in a rapid-fire multi-cache hunt!
Tentative Schedule of Events:

Note, this earlier and shorter event schedule is designed to allow our geocaching friends in the Anchorage region to drive down in the morning for this event and then get back up to Anchorage in time for evening IGD and HQ Duck Dash events already planned in that area.
Check this page periodically for updates. If you are willing to volunteer to assist SSO JOAT in setup or assisting with managing activities during the event, please send a message through his geocaching.com profile.
For those coming from afar, don't forget to plug away at some of the area puzzles before you come down. After all, this is the original Puzzle Capital of Alaska and you'll even have access to the creator of many of those puzzles so you can try and coerce a hint or two.
