About Gravelly Hill Station


Gravelly Hill station was opened in 1862 as part of the (then) London and North Western branch from Aston to Sutton Coldfield (later extended to Lichfield). Most stations on the line were rebuilt when the line was electrified in the early 1990s, but Gravelly Hill retains its original two storey booking office. A large white square is painted on the side of the road bridge on the platform side - this was used to improve visibility of an old fashioned semaphore signal before colour lights were introduced.
