Geocache Description:

This Traditional Cache replaces the venerable Multi-Cache of the same name that occupied the site for over eight years: https://coord.info/GC182G2. It was a fun cache with 80 finds, the first stage of which took you to the Wire Chicken. You can still visit and admire the Chicken; it is not far from the cache site.

You will be finding the original cache container and adding your name to the original log.

Driving to and fro on Monroe Road in Charlotte, you may or may not have noticed this amazing sculpture. I have been surprised at the number of people to whom I have mentioned the sculpture and who have never noticed it.

The chicken was sculpted in 1991 by Jim Nicholson and given to Guadalupe “Lupie” Duran, the owner of the establishment on whose land the sculpture resides, and who has given permission for the cache. This is your chance to get up close and admire The Wire Chicken.

Actually, the framework is more than merely wire. There is no telling how many pounds of steel and hours of metal working went into the creation of the chicken. For me, it has always been “The Wire Chicken."
