Geocache Description:

The Western Reserve Greenway Trail (WRGT) is a 26 mile long paved trail owned by Ashtabula County Metroparks.
Complete the 2016 edition of the WRGT GeoTrail and earn a special Geo-Coin funded by the Ashtabula County Convention Visitors Bureau. .....The Geo-trail will kickoff on June 5th 2016 at the Lampson Staging Area - GC6GK4M, however, due to production delays, the coins will not be available until July 2016.
 


The 2016 edition of the WRGT GeoTrail features approximately 150 geocaches, utilizing a variety of cache types, containers, sizes, and D/T ratings. The geocaches have been published by a number of local geocachers collectively known as the "Western Reserve Geocachers".

In order to earn the Geocoin you must complete the whole 26 miles of trail and write down 2 code words from each mile of trail into the passport. Passports can be pick-up from the Visitor Bureau on Austinburg Road by Route 45. Each mile has at least 3 or 4 code words. Words are located on lids and or logs along with the mile number. Once you have completed the trail and have your 52 code words you can receive your coin from the Ashtabula County Convention Visitors Bureau located at (GC2ZNZW). You may also pick-up coins at Shannons Mini Mart at the trail and RT 307. YOU MUST HAVE 52 WORDS TO RECEIVE COIN (First come, first serve). See passports for more info.

Additionally, when claiming your coin, you will be asked to complete a brief survey. The Western Reserve Greenway Trail (WRGT) GeoTrail is a 26 mile long paved trail owned by Ashtabula County Metroparks.

The trail receives no public funds and is up kept only by grants and donations. It is totally maintained by volunteers so please keep trail beautiful and as always CITO. A volunteer bike patrol that also helps to maintain the trail, offer information and help for visitors to the trail. Feel free to Walk or Bike the trail and site see along the way. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail. Currently there are around 150 caches along this section of trail. There are many bridges and sites to see. Benches are located in various places along the trail to stop and take a break. For the most part the trail is well shaded and also has a nice pavilion area at the Lampson Rd staging area in Austinburg. Other parking areas are located at West Ave in Ashtabula, Woodman Ave in Ashtabula, Old Austinburg Rd in Saybrook, SR 307 in Austinburg, Eagleville Jefferson Rd, Station St in Rock Creek and Penniman Rd in Orwell just south of US 322.
