Bridlewood Library is located on the lower level of Bridlewood Mall, near the north entrance, at 2900 Warden Avenue, Unit 157A. The library is one of a limited number of branches that offer Museum and Arts Passes (a.k.a. MAP passes) to places that include the Toronto Zoo, Black Creek Pioneer Village, Gardiner Museum, and the Ontario Science Centre. A valid adult Toronto Public Library card is needed in order to get a pass and each pass will allow free general admission to one of those venues for up to two adults and two children. Passes are first come first serve and new ones are released Saturday mornings. There are lineups for passes so arrive early and be prepared to wait.
Bridlewood branch is just a short walk away from a mini cemetery in the north-east parking lot of Bridlewood Mall. Christie’s Methodist Cemetery is located outside of the Price Chopper grocery store, and offers a tiny spot of green space in the midst of a sprawling concrete lot. The Bridlewood Mall area used to be farmland, and back in the 1840s, a Methodist church was built on the property. In the 1920s, the church was absorbed into the United Church of Canada and the building eventually closed down and was relocated elsewhere, but the cemetery remained on site. (According to an article on spacing.ca, when developers wanted to build the mall in the 1970s, there was talk about moving the gravesites but relatives and descendants rejected the idea. At the time, Ontario law stated that gravesites could not be disturbed without the consent of the next of kin so developers were forced to include the cemetery in the building plans).
