Look Out!
Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site presents "Look Out". This series includes three caches that are an introduction to geocaching and they are all located within the day access area of Kejimkujik. These caches take you to different viewing platforms where you can observe nature as far as the eye can see.
Visual Change
Before Kejimkujik was established as a National Park, Grafton Lake was dammed and was the site of a fish hatchery. With the removal of the dam, the landscape has returned to its original shape. The restoration of this habitat has benefited Coastal Plain Flora, as well as Species At Risk Ribbonsnakes and Blanding's Turtles. You can see how the "face" of the landscape was changed as a dam ecosystem with high water levels and how the marshland is naturally reclaiming the shoreline.
Que voyez-vous?
Le parc national et lieu historique national Kejimkujik vous offre "Que voyez-vous?". Cette série est composée de trois caches, toutes situées dans l'avant-pays de Kejimkujik et se veut une introduction à la géocachette. Les trois caches vous mèneront à différents belvédères où vous pourrez observer la nature aussi loin que votre oeil vous le permettra.
Changement visuel
Avant la création du parc national de Kejimkujik, le lac Grafton était retenu par un barrage et abritait une écloserie. Après le retrait du barrage, le paysage a repris son aspect d’origine. La restauration de cet habitat a profité à la flore de la plaine côtière, ainsi qu’à la couleuvre mince et à la tortue mouchetée, deux espèces en péril. On peut voir à quel point le barrage avait transformé le « visage » du paysage en un écosystème à niveau d’eau élevé, et comment les marais reprennent leur place de façon naturelle sur le littoral.
