A long hike above timberline gets you to this cache on the highest point in the Latir Peak Wilderness.
One way to get here is to start at Cabresto Lake, follow the good trail past Heart Lake and up to the mesa. From there the trail disappears, but you are above timberline, so it's easy to go from one large cairn to the next. This is a very long single-day hike, more enjoyable done as an overnight. Get an early start to avoid afternoon thunderstorms. The cache is a pill bottle hidden in the summit cairn on Venado Peak. Don't take the cairn apart - you only need to move one small stone on the south side to expose the cavity holding the cache. See the photo to determine which stone.
