We backpacked from Cabresto Lake to Heart Lake, and established base camp there. The next day, we hiked on broad ridges above timberline, enjoying fine views and wildflowers, and watching elk in the distance. There were still patches of snow on the sides of the mountains. The cache is on top of Latir Mesa, hidden among the rocks there. From the benchmark go about 25 feet on a heading of about 145 degrees magnetic. Find the flat-topped rock with the lightning crack, shown in the spoiler photo. The cache is a pill bottle hidden in the crack, covered with rocks.
