Geocache Description:

This cache forms part of a series of caches placed along a recognised heritage trail which follows the course taken by the North Cork Militia and British Cavalry, ending up at Oulart Hill, where a decisive battle took place which lit the flame that culminated in a republic being declared in Wexford and a major uprising in Wexford, Wicklow and the East Coast of Ireland.

Although the official start of the 1798 trail is the nearby camp site, the trackway found here is the first place the actual signed walkway departs from the main road. However, there have been recent land owner issues further up the trail meaning that placing caches along the route are problematic (even when the actual land owner of the cache location has been sought and granted.

So this cache replaces two that were previously archived.

If you are following the trail, the officially recognized route is still this trackway at present - but there's also a slightly longer alternative - follow the nearest tarmac road to the south - there is currently an extra cache on that route as well.

The cache is magnetic and small...
