Geocache Description:



Take a drive in the country and join us at Banner Creek Reservoir as we continue to celebrate the 16th birthday of the Kansas City Picnic, one of the oldest continual events in geocaching history.
It's August and we're in Kansas. It will be hot. The only solution is to go swimming. Put on your swim suits as we light up the 7th candle with a unique event in the swimming area at Banner Creek Reservoir. The posted coordinates will have you standing on a sandy bottom in water about three feet deep. We will gather at the posted coordinates for a quick flashmob photo (thank you javthrowr) and then after cooling off in the water, we will retreat to the sandy beach for the drawing.
You must be part of the event AT the posted coordinates to claim a smilie. Please no logging if you don't get in the water.
As the posted signs will tell you, there is no life guard on duty. You will be swimming (actually wading) at your own risk, but I promise you that water is going to feel really good.
There are no pets allowed in the swimming beach area, so please leave them at home.
There is a $3.00/car fee to enter the reservoir area and reach the swimming beach. Park in town and carpool out to the lake. There is ample parking at the beach.
There are numerous geocaches in the surrounding area, including some geoart of which I am quite fond. Plan to make a day of it.
