Os habitantes de Rio Quente e da vizinha cidade de Caldas Novas afirmam que o complexo de águas termais que existe no entorno dos dois municípios é a maior estância termal do mundo. As águas quentes naturais que brotam das encostas da Serra de Caldas, que fica dentro do Parque Estadual Serra de Caldas com cerca de 12 mil hectares, alimentam diversos empreendimentos turísticos nas duas cidades. A serra possui um formato quase circular e está culminada por um platô coberto por vegetação do Cerrado. É um local único em toda América do Sul e uma das principais atrações turísticas da região Centro-Oeste.

The inhabitants of Rio Quente and the nearby city of Caldas Novas, in the state of Goiás, claim that the complex of hot springs that exist in the vicinity of the two municipalities is the largest in the world. We're not sure of that, but it certainly is very large and very beautiful. The natural hot waters that flow from the slopes of the Serra de Caldas, which is inside the State Park Serra de Caldas – that has about 12,000 hectares, feed several tourist developments in both cities. The Serra has an almost circular shape and is culminated by a plateau covered by Cerrado vegetation. It is a unique place in all of South America and one of the main attractions of the Midwest (Centro Oeste) region.
