Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.  Don't go there unless you'd like to swim or take a boat ride.

This cache is part of a series called "Flag Day in Flag City."  Findlay, Ohio, is officially designated "Flag City, U.S.A." and is the Flag Capital of the United States.  As such, it seemed only fitting that there be a flag GeoArt in the area to commemorate this fact.

All cache GZs have accessible parking at the reservoir, in a park, or in a cemetery.  Please only go for the cemetery finals during daylight hours, and respect all posted hours at any parks.

The United States flag has a long history, with the earliest version, the Grand Union flag, being adopted on December 3rd, 1775. Originally, the flag didn't even have stars until the 1777, when the first 13 states we added as stars (the famous 'Betsy Ross' flag). Over the years, stars were added in groups until we reached the present day 50-star flag with the addition of Hawaii. All told, there are 39 historical US flags with a varying number and configuration of stars. The only constant: the 13 stripes representing the original 13 colonies.
To find the final, you must count the stars in each flag below. You'll take the sum of the digits as your result. For example, a 13-star flag gets a result of 1+3=4, and a 27 star flag is 2+7=9.

Since there's no way to get a result of 1, our present day 50-star flag will default to a 1.
