Walking through the narrow roads of Erkan Village 二崁村 is like stepping back in time. The 100-year-old residences--which are still occupied to this day--are constructed using traditional Penghu red brick tile and coral stone walls. These old houses are a strong feature of Penghu’s history and landscape and are slowly disappearing. Erkan is the best remaining example of these elegantly crafted homes.
Almost all of the residents here are surnamed 陳 Chen, and you will see them going about their daily business, be it drying fish or handcrafting incense and woodcarvings. During your visit be sure to stop for a cup of natural almond drink or cactus juice!
The cache is big enough for small TBs or swag. Please bring your own pen.
