(RO) Structura geologică a Cetățuii este extraordinar de interesantă. Argilele roșii și verzi s-au instalat în așa zisele gresii Corbula, care și-au primit numele de la moluștele numite Corbula. La 48 de metri de Someș se află peșteri care au fost utilizate de oamenii cavernelor, dar acum din păcate sunt folosite de oamenii săraci sau fără casă. Din punct de vedere geografic, Cetățuia dezvăluie seria teraselor frumoase ale Someșului. Strămoșul Someșului a curs la același nivel cu Cetățuia, iar după milioane de ani de muncă a intrat în platul dealului. Cetățuia în sine este la 60 de metri deasupra nivelului actual al Someșului. Poate că cele mai multe probleme sunt cauzate de straturile care s-au format în epoca oligocen superior, care pot fi găsite în jurul Clujului, din cauza cărora s-au creat mai multe alunecări de teren. Pe partea laterală a Cetățuii, putem observa mișcări de teren proaspete, iar în ultimii ani, multe case au fost distruse. În februarie, 1918 a fost o alunecare de teren mai mare, care s-a soldat și cu decesul câtorva persoane.
