Geocache Description:

On December 14th, 1985 North Dakota State claimed their Fifth Football National Championship. This is #5 in a series of (\m/)Bison(By-Zun) Tube Hides commemorating their National Championship Wins.

For their the 5th overall Div. 2 title(2nd Div. 2 Playoff Championship) the Bison took down the North Alabama Lions 35-7 at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium in McAllen, TX (Palm Bowl). Between the three headed monster of Jeff Bentrim, James Molstre, and Chad Stark the Bison shot to a 35-0 lead. The stunned Lions were able to score a touchdown at the end of the game. The championship game is not the story this year, it was to be the best year with the three best players starting their junior year, but then the head coach left for another position and the Bison stumbled to a 2-2 start. The losses to Cal Poly and South Dakota left them ranked No. 18, it was an amazing story going from this start to a National Title. https://youtu.be/LhczU2QdkWg
